Jobs and careers in the building trades offer a great variety and opportunities for many. Residential, commercial, industrial and office properties need building, developing and maintaining. Careers include brick layers, carpenters (chippies in the UK) electricians (sparkies) plumbers, decorators, roofers, locksmiths, glazers, landscapers & gardners, surveyors, architects etc etc. Talk to friends and family as these opportunities are often filled by word of mouth. For many building trades jobs you don’t need many qualifications, just a willing attitude and a strong back! However, for many related jobs, college education is vital such as for electricians, plumbers and carpenters. Obviously, surveyors and architects usually attend university too!
